14 wanted arrested, weapons and ammunitions seized in Basra.

He explained that in the raid operations "14 wanted suspects were arrested, and a large number of roadside bombs, missiles, machine guns, and air defense guns were seized seized (seised) n. 1) having ownership, commonly used in wills as "I give all the property of which I die seized as follows:...." 2) having taken possession of evidence for use in a criminal prosecution. 3) having taken property or a person by force. Earlier on Saturday, a security source told VOI that security forces blocked all the roads that lead to the areas of al-Qibla (8 km western Basra), al-Tememiya (city center), al-Hussein Al-Hussein may refer to:
  • Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad
  • King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein, the current King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
  • Malik Abd Al-Hussein Ghafoori, the third most popular independent running in the January 30, 2005 National Assembly
 neighborhood (8 km western Basra), and al-Asdeqa'a neighborhood (9 km western Basra).

The source stressed that the raid operations were moving "from house to house" in those areas.

Basra, capital city of Basra province, is 590 km south of Baghdad.
