14 ULSTER TEENS AND OAPS STARVE TO DEATH; EXCLUSIVE.Byline: VICTORIA McMAHON FOURTEEN people have starved to death in Northern Ireland in the past five years, it was revealed yesterday. Pensioners and teenagers died in our hospitals, some from eating disorders and others who simply couldn't afford to feed themselves. Any of several patterns of severely disturbed eating behavior, especially anorexia nervosa and bulimia, seen mainly in female teenagers and young women. Association, said: "I know of two young women who have died in the past 18 months from eating disorders. "But this is very, very shocking that children are dying from malnutrition possibly due to eating disorders. "However, we have seen the age for the onset of eating disorders drop dramatically from around 15, 16 to early teens, 12 or 13 years old.
