13th Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition in September. (Competitions).


The 13th Haverhill Sinfonia sin·fo·ni·a  
n.
1. An instrumental composition serving as an overture, as to an opera or cantata, especially in the 18th century.

2. A symphonic composition.
 Soloist Competition will take place September 28, 2002, in Haverhill, United Kingdom. Competitors may be of any age and nationality nationality, in political theory, the quality of belonging to a nation, in the sense of a group united by various strong ties. Among the usual ties are membership in the same general community, common customs, culture, tradition, history, and language.  but must have attained at·tain  
v. at·tained, at·tain·ing, at·tains

v.tr.
1. To gain as an objective; achieve: attain a diploma by hard work.

2.
 the minimum standard of ABRSM ABRSM Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (UK)  Grade 8 distinction, or equivalent.

Winners will receive cash prizes, valued at 2,810 [pounds sterling] along with fourteen performance prizes, including, for the winner, solo performances with Haverhill Sinfonia and the South Bank Symphony, and solo recitals in Haverhill, Glasgow, Wisbech, Skegness, Louth, Colchester and Southend.

The categories of competition are woodwind, brass, strings, piano and vocal. Competitors must prepare a program of contrasting pieces and are allowed a maximum of twenty minutes to perform the program. The application deadline is August 29, 2002.
