2003 EXXONMOBIL COMMUNITY SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM

-- The ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program provides full-time college students with an eight-week paid internship that allows them to gain experience in a wide range of nonprofit community organizations. It supports selected agencies during peak summer months and encourages nonprofit service among college students viewed as community leaders of the future.

-- Since the program began in 1971 in New York City, ExxonMobil has provided $4.6 million to support almost 2,400 community summer job internships. Today it is active in 10 states, including Alabama, Alaska, California, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia and Wyoming, and internationally in Angola.

-- In 2003, ExxonMobil will provide more than $660,000 in grants to fund interns' salaries and administrative expenses.

-- This year, 298 students will intern with nonprofit organizations through the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program.

-- Nonprofit organizations that are designated 501 (c) (3) by the IRS are eligible to apply for the grants. Tax-supported entities are not eligible.

-- Interns must be enrolled undergraduates who have completed their freshman year and will be returning to college full-time in the fall. Each spring, students apply directly to the agencies of their choice for the paid internships. Agencies interview and hire the interns.

-- Each year in select cities, ExxonMobil recognizes and honors Community Champions, former ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program interns who have gone on to a career in the nonprofit sector.

-- The ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program is one of many signature community programs funded by the ExxonMobil Foundation. ExxonMobil Foundation is the primary philanthropic arm of the Exxon Mobil Corporation in the United States. The Foundation engages in a broad range of philanthropic activities focusing on the communities where Exxon Mobil Corporation has significant operations. In addition, the Foundation supports research and dissemination on selected topics of national interest to the energy industry. Focus areas include education, health and environment.
