Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 2003

The 1394 Trade Association today added the i.LINK logo to its 1394 Compliance Branding program in a no-fee license agreement between the Trade Association and Sony Corporation. Under the terms of the agreement, the 1394 Trade Association can sub-license the i.LINK logo for use on products, packaging and promotion of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  1394 standard.

With its high data-transfer speed and plug-and-play capability, the IEEE 1394 interface is the best choice for today's digital video and audio devices, as well as external hard drives and other high-speed peripherals. IEEE 1394 has become the established worldwide industry standard for both consumers and professionals. Analysts from leading organizations expect that the 1394 interface will be incorporated on more than 64 million personal computers and approximately 100 million digital devices by the end of 2003.

"Adding i.LINK creates another way for consumers to identify products built with the IEEE 1394 audio-video standard," said James Snider, executive director of the 1394 Trade Association. "We are pleased to embrace i.LINK as a recognized brand name for 1394-enabled products."
