Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced another round of support for its Unicenter TNG framework, as 13 more industry leaders cast their votes in favor of the most comprehensive enterprise management solution ever released in the computer industry.

The announcements follow a global agreement unveiled earlier today between CA and Hewlett-Packard Co.

The Unicenter TNG Framework partners expect to ship over 1.5 million new systems with the framework on board in the first year alone. In addition, the companies will also ship millions of copies of the framework with operating system upgrades.

At a news conference here, the following industry leaders joined forces in support of the Unicenter TNG Framework: Acer America Corporation, CKS, Data General Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation, Fujitsu ICL Computers Limited, Legato Systems Inc., NCR Corp., Santa Cruz Operation Inc., Sequent Computer Systems Inc., Tandem Computers Inc., UniKix Technologies, Unison Software, and Unisys Corporation Computer Systems Group.

Users of these companies' technologies will gain the benefit of out-of-the-box integration with the Unicenter TNG Framework's extensive set of management services.

"Additionally, it adds even more value for our customers by allowing them to share in our ongoing Unicenter integration efforts."

According to Gerard van de Aast, vice president of Strategic Alliances at Digital, the Unicenter TNG Framework makes it possible for Digital customers to build an extended enterprise management solution. By enabling the extensive manageability of Digital systems through Unicenter TNG, the new agreement stands to reduce the largest single component of enterprise computing costs, automating the management and administration of distributed IT environments.

CA is the first vendor to offer an IT management framework with all the services and tools necessary for deploying customized management applications on the industry's leading operating systems and hardware platforms. It includes services for event management, discovery services, scheduling, manager/agent and 2-D, 3-D and Web GUI, along with an industry-standard object repository to simplify the integration of application messages and events from many different management products.

This gives CA partners and clients an open platform for building and extending enterprise management software. More than 200 partners have created solutions that work with the Unicenter TNG Framework.

CA is also offering free training classes to vendors and valued-added resellers that need help creating and integrating third-party management solutions.
