Douglas Clark (born 1942) is an English poet.

Clark was born in Darlington, County Durham, England, to Scottish parents in 1942.

A 12-year-old boy has filed a $500,000 claim against the city, Ventura County and the Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  school district, alleging that he seriously hurt his back during an athletic event at Sycamore sycamore: see plane tree.

Sixth-grader Daniel Knasin has worn a back brace since Dec. 17, when he jumped beyond the school's long-jump pit and landed on hard ground, according to according to

``He kind of landed on his feet which slid out from under him and then he landed on his butt and lower back,'' said Paul S. Passovoy, a Woodland Hills attorney who represents the boy. ``That is not a proper long-jump pit. It was poorly maintained. Even inside the pit there was gravel and rocks. We felt it was a dangerous condition for the kids to be participating around.''

Karen Longobart, school district risk management director, referred questions to claims adjustor Sheila Marks, who did not return phone calls.

Passovoy said the boy must wear the brace, which immobilizes his lumbar region (Anat.) the region of the loin; specifically, a region between the hypochondriac and iliac regions, and outside of the umbilical region.

, through the summer, when the child's doctor will decide whether surgery is required. Despite the injury, Daniel is able to attend school.

Although Anita White, secretary at Sycamore Elementary, said the school district maintains the athletic fields, Passovoy said claims were filed with the city, Ventura County and the school district to make certain all responsible agencies were served.
