11th JNC to fill two judgeships.


The 11th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the circuit bench created by Judge Michael B. Chavies' resignation and a vacancy on the Dade County Dade County can refer to the following places:
  • Dade County, Florida, in the southeastern part of the state now renamed Miami-Dade County
  • Dade County, Georgia, the state's northwestern-most, bordering Alabama and Tennessee
 bench created by Judge Mark King Leban's elevation elevation, vertical distance from a datum plane, usually mean sea level to a point above the earth. Often used synonymously with altitude, elevation is the height on the earth's surface and altitude, the height in space above the surface.  to the circuit court.

Applicants for either opening must be registered voters, live within the territorial jurisdiction Territorial jurisdiction in United States law refers to a court's power over events and persons within the bounds of a particular geographic territory. If a court does not have territorial jurisdiction over the events or persons within it, then the court cannot bind the defendant  of the court, and have been a member of the Bar for the past five years.

, Suite #3950, 100 Southeast Second Street, Miami 33131 no later than 5 p.m., July 5. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Indicate at the top of the application if you are applying for the county court judge position or the circuit court judge position.

Those who have previously submitted applications to the commission must submit new applications. The use of a photograph is encouraged and the JNC asks applicants not to submit three-ring binders.
