, endorsed in two of the three February 24 special elections.

In Jackson Heights the union endorsed Julissa Ferreras, former chief of staff to former councilman Hiram Monserrate Hiram Monserrate is a member of the New York City Council currently representing District 21, which comprises the Queens' neighborhoods of Corona, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights. .

The union did not take a position in the third special election, for the seat vacated by Joe Addabbo, whose former aide, Frank Gulluscio, was among the candidates just removed from the ballot.

A spokeswoman for the union said they may endorse in that race "once the candidates on the ballot are clear."
