11 alumni, team to receive awards.

FITCHBURG - Fitchburg State College has selected the recipients of the 2008 Alumni Awards and the Hall of Fame inductees.

Eleven distinguished alumni and one record-setting team will be recognized for their achievements at an invitation-only awards dinner at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the college.

Alumni awardees range from a television news anchor, to a college president, to dedicated alumni volunteers, teachers and a Commonwealth government official.

Hall of Fame inductees include Fitchburg State's leading hockey scorer, twin sisters who led track and field scoring, and the undefeated 1952 men's soccer team.

"The committees choosing the award recipients and Hall of Fame inductees had a tough time narrowing the field this year," said Chelsey Patriss, director of alumni relations.

"It really speaks to the caliber of Fitchburg State College alumni to have so many accomplished individuals being honored."
