11 YEARS FOR RAPING 'PARTY HOUSE' GIRL; Victim's relief at verdict.

Byline: BY PAUL HIGGINS Paul Higgins (Born - January 13, 1962 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada) is a retired Canadian Professional Hockey Right Winger who played 2 seasons in the National Hockey League for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A RAPIST who thought he had a "right" to have sex with a woman whose home he considered a "party house" was jailed for 11 years yesterday.

During sentencing at Belfast Crown Court, Judge Derrick Rodgers Derrick Rodgers (born 10/14/1971) is a former linebacker that played for the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints of the NFL. Roders played 6 seasons for the Dolphins and 2 for the Saints. He attended Arizona State for college.  told Anthony West: "No matter whether it was a party house, the rule of law must apply."

Ordering him to sign the sex offenders register for life, the judge added West seemed to have an attitude that women were there for his "own pleasure" with "a perception of sexual entitlements".

He described what the 21-year-old had done to his victim as "the stuff of nightmares".

West, of Knockwood Crescent in East Belfast, was convicted in June of raping a woman early on November 24 last year.

The court heard he first called to the 20-year-old victim's house at around 6am and made them both a cup of tea in the kitchen where he unlocked the back door.

The victim told the jury she had spurned spurn

West's advances, phoning three different taxi firms in an attempt to get rid of him.

Unknown to West, the girl was texting her friends who lived across the street who were concerned at her male caller, telling them: "Anto f*** sake. Didn't think I would get rid of him. he wanted to stay. Dirty b****** but no chance. Didn't think he was going to give in but he did. Thank f***."

West left in a taxi and took it to Snugville Street, West Belfast, to a house belonging to another girl he knew but no one answered and he returned to the victim's house.

The jury heard how he scaled the rear yard wall, opened the back door, went to her bedroom where he removed the sleeping woman's clothing and had sex with her.

West described in court how it had been "a gift" to get inside the house a second time and that the sex had been consensual CONSENSUAL, civil law. This word is applied to designate one species of contract known in the civil laws; these contracts derive their name from the consent of the parties which is required in their formation, as they cannot exist without such consent.

But he could not explain why his victim had wanted him in her bed despite her efforts only 20 minutes earlier to get rid of him.

Yesterday it was revealed West has lodged an appeal against his conviction.

Prosecution lawyer Fiona O'Kane said the case was littered with aggravating ag·gra·vate

features including the fact West "has shown no remorse".

Speaking outside the court his victim said she was "really, really relieved" her court ordeal was over as it would give her closure.

She added: "Although it will not change what happened, it's a bit of justice.

"I just hope more girls will be able to come forward, stand up and go through it - at least I have got this far and stood up to him."
