In one week of sales, Disney/Pixar's MONSTERS, INC inc - /ink/ increment, i.e. increase by one. Especially used by assembly programmers, as many assembly languages have an "inc" mnemonic.

On September 18, Buena Vista Home Entertainment proudly reported that the 5 million DVD and videocassette copies sold of MONSTERS, INC. topped the industry one day sales record previously reported at 4.5 million units. Despite being released during the typical industry Tuesday release pattern, MONSTERS, INC. then went on to sell 7.5 million units within its first three days of sales (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) to eclipse the DVD-era industry three day record previously reported at 7.0 million DVD and videocassette units. In addition, the 11 million combined DVD and videocassette sales propels MONSTERS, INC. above the current week one sales record, which has been reported at 10 million combined units. On DVD, MONSTERS, INC. has gone on to become the fastest selling title ever, topping sales of 7 million DVD units in its first week of sales.
