11 MONTHS AFTER GROUNDBREAKING, LANCASTER GOLF COURSE STILL A\PLAN.

Byline: Jim Skeen Daily News Staff Writer

Eleven months after its "groundbreaking," construction has yet to start on a nine-hole, par-3 golf course next to the Lancaster Business Park.

Lancaster Golf Course Center Inc. plans to spend $2.3 million to $2.4 million to turn 20 acres of vacant city land at the northwest corner of Fifth Street East and Avenue K-4 into a golf course with driving range, clubhouse, pro shop and parking lot for 110 cars.

The golf course will be built, but it has been delayed because it is taking longer than expected to finalize fi·nal·ize

"We're getting fairly close to finalizing the contract," Lee said. "I anticipate no problems."

The golf course would be the first for Lancaster. City officials and Oh held a "groundbreaking" for the golf course in March. At the event, there was an announcement of Oh's plans for the course and city officials fired golf balls into the desert. At that time, Oh said construction would start after the area had dried out sufficiently from winter rains.

"We felt it's going to be a long-use project and we wanted to make sure everyone was happy," Lee said of the delay. "Steve has such high hopes."

Plans called for the driving range to have 35 to 40 stalls, three target greens, fairways and bunkers.

Oh signed a lease agreement with the city that calls for the developer to pay the city $750 a month during the 18-month construction period. Afterward af·ter·ward   also af·ter·wards
