Board Fairs work to match up nonprofit organizations Nonprofit Organization An association that is given tax-free status. Donations to a non-profit organization are often tax deductible as well. Notes: Examples of non-profit organizations are charities, hospitals and schools. with those people who are interested in becoming board members. The Fair is set up like a traditional job fair. Each of the 55 participating nonprofits will be represented by the executive director and/or a current board member so potential board members can connect with them one-on-one. Julia Love, the Management Center's Program Director, believes that "the Board Fair gives the public an opportunity to learn about what the diverse nonprofit organizations are doing in their community and possibly join forces with a cause they are connected to by becoming a board member." There is no cost involved and no previous board experience necessary. Potential board members are requested to bring business cards or resumes to give to the nonprofits of their choice. The Management Center will have an experienced consultant on hand to offer details of what board membership actually entails. As a result of attending a previous board fair, Felice Shirmoma is currently the Board Director for Slide Ranch, Muir Beach, CA. Ms. Shirmoma says "the Board Fair is a well organized event with a great variety of organizations covering almost every imaginable i·mag·i·na·ble adj.
