Over this 10 year period the Company has maintained a high level of exploration activity and is now an emerging mid-tier copper producer. We believe it is opportune to reflect on the progress of Equinox during this period and consider the elements that have seen the Company emerge as one of the survivors of several difficult periods in the resources market. Equinox was formed in 1993 by the technical team involved in several significant discoveries for Hunter Resources Limited during the mid-1980s to early 1990s. The leaders of this team, Craig Williams Craig Williams may refer to:

The exploration focus for Equinox at that time was Archaean gold and iron oxide The material used to coat the surfaces of magnetic tapes and lower-capacity disks. copper-gold ("IOCG IOCG Iron Oxide Copper Gold IOCG International Organization for Crystal Growth ") deposits. In 1994, Mr Williams and Dr Nisbet were jointly awarded "Prospector of the Year" by the Australian Association of Mining and Exploration Companies and in 1996 Equinox was awarded "Explorer of the Year" by the Australian Mines Handbook. In 1996, Equinox made a gold discovery in the Gawler Craton of South Australia and soon after a further discovery by Helix Resources NL on the adjoining ground generated a pegging rush in the Gawler and considerable market interest. However the resources market suffered a rapid decline in 1997, exacerbated by the flight of risk capital out of the resources industry during the dot.com boom. These problems were compounded in Australia by the Native Title Act severely restricting land access for exploration companies such as Equinox. During this difficult period from mid-1997 to mid-2003, Equinox maintained a high level of exploration activity funded primarily through joint ventures with major mining companies such as Phelps Dodge Corporation, Anglo American Corporation and Billiton plc. In most of these joint ventures the major partner had sufficient confidence in our team for Equinox to be joint venture operator. In 1996, Equinox recognised that there were outstanding opportunities offshore and commenced overseas activities with exploration for IOCG mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. Equinox managed the Zambezi JV until 1999 when operatorship passed to Anglo American. This enabled the Company to operate independently in Zambia where it had developed considerable expertise. Subsequently, Equinox formed a joint venture with Phelps Dodge Corporation on the Lumwana Project in Zambia. The Company believed that acquiring such a world class copper asset, at a time when copper prices were at a 15 year low of US61c/lb copper, represented an outstanding opportunity. Since 1999, Equinox has focused its efforts on the Lumwana Project, completing a pre-feasibility study in 2000 and a 2-year, US$13 million bankable bank·a·ble adj. 1. Acceptable to or at a bank: bankable funds. 2. Guaranteed to bring profit: a bankable movie star. feasibility study in 2003. This bankable feasibility study defines a very substantial low-cost, open-pit mining operation at Lumwana that will produce an average of 112,000 tonnes of copper per year for at least 20 years. The upswing in the commodity markets since mid-2004 suggests that development of Lumwana could be strategically timed. The Company is currently in the process of financing Lumwana development and has an objective of completing financing and commencing development in the second half of next year. Equinox is also maintaining an active exploration presence with programs underway for nickel in Western Australia, IOCG in South Australia, Queensland and Sweden, gold in Peru and copper-cobalt in Zambia. The Company has a highly professional team of explorers and developers, with the critical administrative support personnel, with offices in Perth, Toronto, Lima and in Zambia. This team is currently being further expanded to meet the demands of progressing Lumwana to development. Equinox has recently listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) Canada's largest stock exchange, trading approximately 1,200 company stocks and 33 options. ("TSX") and believes that the dual ASX-TSX listing of the Company will provide access to the global capital markets that will be critical as Equinox develops from an explorer to an emerging producer. Equinox Chief Executive Officer, Craig Williams said "The key lesson from the history of Equinox is that survival through the difficult portions of the resources cycle is fundamental if a junior company is to be successful in the long-term. Exposure to exploration success and opportunity is at the core of the resources business and Equinox is a survivor that now has a very substantial platform to build on for the future. Critical to our success to date has been the Equinox team and the investors that have had faith through the difficult times and will have the opportunity to benefit during the emergence of the company into a mid-tier mining company."
