ISLAMABAD, November 17, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Indus River Indus River

Trans-Himalayan river of southern Asia. It is one of the world's longest rivers, with a length of 1,800 mi (2,900 km). Its annual average flow of 272 billion cu yd (207 billion cu m) is twice that of the Nile.

 IRSA, an overall water inflow from various reservoirs recorded was 53,187 cusecs. Water level at Tarbela Dam recorded was at 1454.73 feet. The present water level at the dam was 85.73 feet higher than the dead level of 1,369 feet. Water inflow at the dam was recorded at 28,200 cusecs while outflow was 58,000 cusecs. The water level at Mangla Dam was recorded at 1145.35 feet which was 105.35 feet higher than the dead level of 1040 feet. Water inflow at the dam was recorded at 7,616 cusecs. The contribution of Kabul and Chenab was recorded 9,560 cusecs and 7,811 cusecs, respectively.
