Project Popstar promises to raise the bar in discovering local talent. Females between the ages of 16 and 21 are invited to participate in Project Popstar. Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian present at all stages of the event. The contest will be open to the first 500 eligible contestants that are in line at the George R. Brown Convention Center Saturday, August 14, 2004. Check-in will begin promptly at 7:00 am. Upon arrival each contestant must have their application filled out in its entirety. Over a two-day period, 500 contestants will be narrowed down to twenty finalists. These ladies will attend the week-long world renowned Music World Boot Camp Software from Apple that enables an Intel x86-based Macintosh to host the Windows XP operating system. Boot Camp is used to divide the hard disk into Windows and Mac partitions, to install the necessary drivers and to create a dual boot environment. where they will go through rigorous vocal coaching sessions, dance and performance classes. Up to five of the final twenty participants may form Houston's newest all-girl group.
