101COMMUNICATIONS ACQUIRES FCW GOVERNMENT TECHNOLOGY GROUP.

101communications (Chatsworth, CA) has agreed to acquire FCW Government Technology Group (Falls Church, VA) from parent International Data Group (Framingham, MA). No terms were given.

Established in 1987, FCW publishes Federal Computer Week, a leading publication for the government information technology market, and civic.com, a monthly that covers the state and local government information technology market. Together, the magazines have a combined controlled circulation of 148,000. The company also produces the FCW.com Web site, "gBuys," an e-commerce site for the purchase of IT commodities, and the "Government CIO Summit" series and the "Federal 100" awards gala.

101communications chairman Curt Hessler said "we are delighted with this acquisition of the market leader in advertising revenue, audience and editorial quality and innovation in print, online and events. FCW will provide our customers with an expanding portfolio of integrated marketing opportunities."

Established in 1998, 101communications produces 14 magazines, over 30 conferences and related Web sites for the U.S. and European markets in four major areas: software development (Application Development Trends, Java Report), vertical markets (Recharger, Syllabus), Windows networking (ENT, Microsoft Certified Professional) and enterprise technology (Enterprise Systems Journal, HP Professional).
