SIG, which supplies insulation, interiors, roofing and specialist construction products, said the action comes amid "sharply declining levels" of residential building activity in the UK and Ireland. Updating on trading, SIG said total sales for the year to December 31 rose 24% on a year earlier to pounds 3.04bn after completing 25 acquisitions in the year.
