Business Correspondent ANGLESEY Mining is forecasting a radical change in fortunes as it gears up to resume operations at its Parys Mountain Parys Mountain – in the Welsh language Mynydd Parys – is located south of Amlwch which is in north east Anglesey. The copper from the mine at Parys Mountain dominated the world's markets during the 1780s, when the mine was allegedly the largest in the mine next year. About 100 jobs are expected to be created withthe re-opening of the mine near Amlwch, which will produce zinc, lead, copper and smaller amounts of gold and silver. "The decline will spiral down, allowing access first to the newly discovered White Rock area and later to the deeper higher grade Engine Zone and other resource zones," he said. "Additional funding will be required to complete this decline and other work associated with the move to production, and we are in discussions with a number of potential sources of such finance. "It is our intention to commence underground excavation in January, 2008. We expect to commence bringing ore to surface during 2008 with first concentrate production during 2009." The company is also moving forward with plans for an iron ore mine in Labrador, Canada, where first production is expected in 2009 after an initial public offering of shares in that country. Mr Kearney said: "We are moving into a completely new phase in the growth and development of the group. Our focus is now clearly on bringing our projects into production as rapidly as possible. "The outlook for the iron ore, base and precious metals we intend to produce is generally favourable and we have a good spread of forecast revenue streams: iron ore, zinc, lead, copper, silver and gold.
