100% compostable, disposable food service packaging. (Packaging Equipment).


Autobar Disposables Group, part of the European Autobar Group, has announced the launch of a commercial range of 100% compostable disposable food service packaging products made from an annually renewable resource Noun 1. renewable resource - any natural resource (as wood or solar energy) that can be replenished naturally with the passage of time

This is Autobar Disposables Group's first fully compostable rigid packaging available for commercial use in Europe and at present the range of products is suitable for ambient and chilled food Chilled foods are prepared foods stored at refrigeration temperatures (at or below 8°C). They have been available in the United Kingdom and many other industrialised countries since the 1960s.  and beverage products. Both parties are continuing development of a heat resistant crystalline format.

Veriplast International, the sales and marketing arm of Autobar Disposables Group, has had initial success with the product, producing a 'preview' bespoke be·spoke

 range of clear PLA disposable cups for Coca Cola Atlanta for the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. The company is now offering a range of PLA disposable cups, single serve salad bowls and container trays in a variety of sizes and an important feature of the clear PLA packaging is it is able to take a full colour printing process for brand and product communication. As PLA performs in a similar way to PET it is envisaged that a wide range of standard and bespoke products will be produced.

Autobar Disposables Group has already commenced manufacture of the PLA range, which will ultimately be produced at all seven of the company's European manufacturing plants.
