10 cops dismissed for allegedly torturing IDPs.PESHAWAR, November 19, 2009 (Frontier Star): Ten police officers of Dera Ismail Khan Dera Ismail Khan (dā`rə ĭsmīl` khän), town (1981 pop. 64,358), N central Pakistan, c.1 mi (1.6 km) on the western bank of the Indus River. have been dismissed for allegedly torturing IDPs of South Waziristan South Waziristan (Urdu: جنوبی وزیرستان) is the southern part of Waziristan, a mountainous region of northwest Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan and covering some 11 585 km² (4,473 mi²). and report has been send to Chief Minister NWFP NWFP North-West Frontier Province (northwest Pakistan) NWFP Northwest Forest Plan NWFP Non-Wood Forest Product here on Thursday. According to details, millions of affectees of ongoing operation against militants in South Waziristan have shifted to Hangu, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and other cities. It is reported that the police has tortured the IDPs during registration process and ration distribution between the IDPs at registration points. Chief Minister of NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti taking strict action of the incident sought report from commissioner Dera Ismail division in this connection. The commissioner has send the report and according to reports ten police personals have been dismissed and special directions have been issued to the police for stoppage of such incidents.
