HERE they are...the fabulous finalists in our Great Scot awards 2008.

They are all ordinary men, women and children who have achieved the extraordinary and each one is already a winner.

From 13-year-old Jenna Speirs who is helping build a holiday cabin in memory of her twin brother, to foster parents Jim and Jessie Newall who are retiring after 35 years caring for the country's most vulnerable children - these are the people who make us proud to be Scottish.

Four of the finalists will be presented with Unsung Hero awards at a star-studded night in the Glasgow Hilton on September 20 and one will be named our Great Scot.

Judging took place last week and, as ever, it proved a difficult task.
