Housing Secretary Ileana Echegoyen announced the construction of 10,900 low-cost housing units in 36 municipalities, reports El Nuevo Dia (Oct. 1, 2001). After meeting with developers involved in 52 separate housing projects, she said the initiative represents an investment of US$500 million, most of it from the private sector.
