10,000 TV cheats caught.
The city is fourth in the national league of shame behind Manchester,Glasgow and the worst offenders,London.
In Liverpool, 10,632 people were caught, there were 2,085in Wirral,1,876 in St Helens and 1,066 inChester.
And almost half of those were watching the box between 5pm and 8pm while eating their evening meals. Between May and June TV licence inspectors made 137,000 visits,catching many licence evaders midway through their evening meal.
Other tactics included visits during major sporting events and dramatic soap story lines which have often been the downfall of licence cheats.
