1 DIES AFTER CAR, TRUCK COLLIDE.NORTH HOLLYWOOD - A 58-year-old Sherman Oaks man traveling to pick up a friend and fellow co-worker near Valley College died Wednesday morning after a collision between his car and a city sanitation truck. Kyung Eop Lee was pronounced dead at the intersection of Fulton Avenue and Burbank Boulevard at 6:20 a.m. after his Hyundai Sonata collided with the garbage truck, said Los Angeles police Officer Toni Wolfe. Police said there are no known witnesses other than the participants. ``Somebody ran the red light, we just don't know who,'' Wolfe said. Lee's car was crushed under the truck. He was apparently going to pick up a friend near Valley College, Wolfe said. The driver of the sanitation truck, David Regalado, 39, had complaints of pain but was not taken to a hospital, Wolfe said. Authorities said speed may have been an issue in the collision, and police will likely reconstruct the crash to determine the speed of the vehicles, Wolfe said. There was a preliminary indication that neither driver was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Wolfe said. Police encouraged anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Valley Traffic Detective Ralph Huerta at (818) 756-8391.
