1 DEAD, 5 HURT IN CRASHES.

One man died and at least five others were injured after two head-on collisions Monday afternoon, officials said.

In the first, about 4:30 p.m. on Angeles Crest Highway The Angeles Crest Highway is a two-lane (one lane of travel in each direction) segment of California State Route 2 in the United States. The road is 66 miles in length, with its western terminus at the intersection at Foothill Boulevard in La CaƱada Flintridge and its eastern , an eight-passenger commuter van and another vehicle collided head-on.

Two victims who appeared to be in their 20s were airlifted to Huntington Memorial Hospital, where they were later listed in fair condition, the hospital supervisor said.

The second collision, involving at least two vehicles on the Colorado Boulevard Colorado Boulevard (or Colorado Street) is a major east-west street in Southern California, United States. It runs from Griffith Park in Los Angeles east through Glendale, the Eagle Rock section of Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Arcadia, ending in Monrovia.  off-ramp off the southbound Golden State Freeway The Golden State Freeway is a north-south freeway running through Kern County and Los Angeles County, California. Originally built as U.S. Highway 99, it was re-signed as Interstate 5 in 1964. , killed a 25-year-old man who was ejected from one of the vehicles, Ray said.

One of the vehicles caught fire in the head-on collision at about 5 p.m. The 25-year-old died at the scene, and three other people were transported to County USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  Medical Center in critical condition, Ray said.
