1 BIG MISTAKE; the Razz.Byline: BEV LYONS RADIO 1's Greg James For Greg James, the Radio 1 DJ and broadcaster see Greg James (DJ) Justice Greg James born 15 September 1944, is a former Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. He is believed to be the youngest Queen's Counsel (Q.C. and newsreader A client program that is used to read messages from Internet-based discussion groups (the venerable Usenet) or syndication feeds such as RSS and Atom. Greg, who is about to replace muchloved Scot Edith Bowman's slot on the national airwaves, had a good laugh when he visited the BBC's new flagship studios in Glasgow to host his early breakfast show. London-born presenter Greg was in Scotland as part of a two-week tour of the country to help out people with their summer jobs. He was asked to wear a Nessie suit at Loch Ness and give people advice in a questionable Scottish accent as part of his task. The blunder came just as he was doing the handover n. 1. The act of relinquishing property or authority etc. to another; as, the handover of occupied territory to the original posssessors; the handover of power from the military back to the civilian authorities s>. from newsreader Pearce in the studio . Following Adrian's news report on Radio 1's Newsbeat, Greg then told Adrian: "I've got some music for you. Ready for this? If you were a newsreader on BBC Scotland, this is what you'd hear every day - so I want you to do a less serious headline at the end of this. Okay?" After playing the jingle, Adrian said: "You can't. I'm sorry. That's like comedy. What is that?" Greg seemed to be aware the joke might backfire, replying halfheartedly: "There's no need for that. It's the BBC Scotland news introduction." Adrian quipped: "Seriously not." Greg replied: "It's quite atmospheric." Adrian said: "But then, you're meant to come in and say something serious." After playing the jingle again, the two presenters laughed heartily, with Greg adding: "Lovely stuff." The mockery of our beloved homegrown station will come as an extra blow to those who feel that Greg, 23, is ousting lunchtime legend Edith, 35, from her show. It was announced earlier this month that the Fife-born presenter will move to weekend breakfast while Greg takes over her midweek 1pm-4pm slot. And yesterday didn't help Greg win over some of his Scots fans. One said: "He really took the p*** out of Radio Scotland and its jingles. It's not really on.You'd expect a bit more respect from someone with a flagship show." Another told the Razz: "I thought it was rude of Greg to insult our station. It's a bit stupid considering that Radio 1 has listeners from all over the place." Greg, who is known for his silly stunts, tried to redeem himself by commenting about the recently built BBC BBC in full British Broadcasting Corp. Publicly financed broadcasting system in Britain.
