1, 23,000 youth imparted vocational, technical training.

ISLAMABAD, August 24, 2009 (Balochistan Times): National Vocational & Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC), has imparted vocational and technical training to 1,23,000 youth in various disciplines, under Prime Ministers Hunermand Pakistan Programme to meet the trained workforce needs of the industrial sector. This was stated by Chairman NAVTEC, Adnan A. Khawaja during a certificates, said a release Monday. He said, in addition to the Prime Ministers Hunermand Pakistan Programme, around 50,000 youth will be provided vocational training under PresidentsFunni Maharat Programme, in 79 backward tehsils of the country. Under this programme, training process has already been initiated in 42 tehsils of Punjab province. He was confident that the programme will go a long way in alleviating poverty in the backward and under-developed areas. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Punjab, Salman Taseer lauded the interest and practical steps taken by Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani to provide vocational and technical training to the youth for making them useful citizens of the country. He appreciated the efforts of NAVTEC to impart technical training to 1,23,000 people including the IDPs. He also commended it for its endeavours to provide vocational training to the youth of remote areas. He hoped that NAVTEC will continue to play its positive role in economic and industrial development of the country. Later, Governor Punjab distributed merit certificates amongst the position holders of the NAVTECs courses.
