.BMW''s coupe-like 5 Series Gran Turismo arrives in the UK in October, and starter models are expected to cost from pounds 40,000. It becomes the 19th distinct model shape in BMW''s line-up, and will sell as either a four-seater Executive-spec car, or in a five-seater SE variant. Its big innovation is a two-piece tailgate, a first in the premium segment. Three engines will be available at launch, designated as Gran Turismo 530d, 535i and 550i versions. The biggest UK seller is predicted to be the 530d GT, a 2,993cc six-cylinder 242bhp diesel that can accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.9 seconds, and with a top speed of 149mph. The 535i GT uses a 2,979cc six-cylinder petrol powerplant, with the flagship BMW 550i GT using a 4,395cc V8 engine with a twin-turbo.
