It borders on Germany in the west, on the Baltic Sea and the Kaliningrad region of Russia in the north, on Lithuania, , killing both pilots on board the two-seater plane. The Su-27 jet went down yesterday while performing manoeuvres at a festival in Radom, 65 miles south of Warsaw Warsaw (wôr`sô), Pol. Warszawa, city (1993 est. pop. 1,655,700), capital of Poland and of Mazowieckie prov., central Poland, on both banks of the Vistula River. . Footage on state television showed the plane turning in the air, then dropping behind trees. A cloud of black smoke appeared on the horizon. Officials said the crash was likely caused by birds hitting an engine. The pilots "did not eject and steered the plane away from the town, avoiding graver consequences at the cost of their lives," said officials. |
