One gets the feeling the NCAA wouldn't mind if the Irish lose another game to make the matter moot. --The Toilet Bowl: Illinois plays at Indiana on Saturday in what might be the worst college game of the season. The Illini are 0-6 in the Big Ten and 1-9 overall. Indiana is 0-5 and 1-8 overall. Neither team has a victory against a Division I-A opponent. --Beast of the East: The newly revamped Big East announced Tuesday might be one of the best basketball conferences in the country, but its football prowess is questionable. Since 1998, the first year of the BCS rankings, Syracuse is the only school in the newly formed Big East to finish in the top 15 of the Associated Press poll. Despite this, commissioner Mike Tranghese defended the conference in its future form. ``We will be one of the six best football-playing conferences in the country,'' he said. ``I'm confident that we will be sitting at the table with the five other conferences.''
