Deborah Distin failed to take the hint when her internet boyfriend stopped replying to her emails.

Rather than accept that the web romance was over, she flew 3,500 miles to the UK in a desperate bid to track down Paul Johnson Paul Johnson may refer to:

Now Deborah, who spent pounds 1,200 on her flight, has reluctantly conceded he is just not interested - and she really has no male.

The mum-of one, 34, from Maine, US, fell for Paul, 26, on a dating website last year.

She gushed: "He's really good looking. We spent hours talking on the phone. He said he would like to get me a big house and we would have lovely kids."

Paul, of Cheltenham, Glos, last emailed her on January 26, saying he needed a hug - then the contact stopped. Deborah said: "He's never gone more than a week without writing back. I can't sleep. He said he'd come and see me but then said he had to wait to hear about a job.

"I've emailed to tell him I'm here but have heard nothing. Once he realises I'm here he'll call."

But last night the Mirror tracked down Paul, who is in hiding Adv. 1. in hiding - quietly in concealment; "he lay doggo"

"I have had no contact with her for over a year. This is strange."

Devastated Deborah groaned: "These are all lies and I am so upset. He's promised me all sorts. I'll never use online dating again."
