...and we've got the music; Life is sweet as Blujam set TV audition rocking.

SIMON COWELL Simon Cowell (born 7 October, 1959) is a British artist and repertoire ("A&R") executive for Sony BMG in the United Kingdom and a television producer, more commonly known as a judge on television programmes such as Pop Idol, The X Factor, American Idol  might have hit his buzzer but Billingham band Blujam still made it through their TV audition for Britain's Got Talent Britain's Got Talent is a British television show on ITV (also on TV3 in Ireland). Presented by Ant & Dec, the talent show premiered on 9 June 2007, and was broadcast daily with a live final on 17 June 2007. .

The band, made up of students from Bede Sixth Form College, impressed judges Amanda Holden Amanda Louise Holden (born 16 February 1971 in Bishop's Waltham, Hampshire) is an English actress. She made her television debut as an unsuccessful contestant on the long-running ITV series Blind Date.[1] Amanda trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.  and Piers Morgan Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan (born 30 March 1965 in Newick, East Sussex) is a former editor of British tabloid newspapers the News of the World (1994 – 1995) and the Daily Mirror (1995 – 2004).  with their rendition of Jailhouse Rock.

And their audition, at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, meant they soared into the next round and earned themselves a shot at the pounds 100,000 prize money.

Pianist Adam Gibson told the Gazette: "It was very scary but it was a great experience.

"We were all really nervous because we had quite a while to wait. It was the biggest audience that we had ever played to and they were great." Despite Cowell hitting his buzzer, the Birmingham audience were all out of their seats dancing and singing along.

Following their performance, the audience then booed as Cowell told the band that they looked "odd" together..

But Piers Morgan said: "You rocked this place and I liked you - don't listen to him." The television audition was actually the second round of the competition, with the band having been previously required to record a DVD DVD: see digital versatile disc.

 for an earlier round. But when the panel of judges, at the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle, saw their performance they put them straight through.

Drummer Paul Kemp said. "When we pulled up in Newcastle there was a big truck with the logo on then it became very real." The band decided to try their luck at the talent contest after tutor Dave Taylor persuaded them to audition. Dave, a media lecturer, believes the band could go on to win the competition.

He said: "The key thing for them is that people have fun when they are at their gigs.

"But they all also really understand the importance of their studies. The pounds 100,000 prize would enable them to get through university without debt. They could see that as a means of providing for their future." Keep watching to see if the Teessiders make it through the next round..
