systems to their standards. I read about a couple who had just bought a place and shortly thereafter were told their septic system was unacceptable. They had to rent a porta-potty.

We had constant trouble with our neighbors. We lived on almost three acres and I didn't know when I bought it that it was surrounded by land owned by "city slickers" who came up on weekends to get away from the city. There were probably five families on our road that live there permanently. The locals and the city slickers would constantly cause us trouble. They gathered petitions and would gather together at the town meetings to backstab back·stab

, chickens or ducks. They didn't like that we kept our firewood in our front yard. (It was slabwood and it was the only place they could dump it.) They said our mobile home sat too close to the road and that was illegal, even though we had to get a permit to put it there. They called the child protection services because my kids weren't in school (they are homeschooled). They broke into my cabin and took everything they wanted -- one woman even admitted it to me. No animals, no wood, no cars on the property that aren't brand new, no weeds or grass over so many inches high.

One of these infamous neighbors rents out the cabin that was right across the street from ours. When some very decent, hardworking Countryside-type people moved in they were harassed until they moved out of state. The landlord shot the tenant's pet duck and threw it in their yard because the poor duck had the nerve to wander onto the landlord's property.

We didn't have thousands of dollars to meet their codes and project the perfect image. Presently I'm trying to give my mobile home away, since all of Minnesota is getting so strict, likely no one could buy it and move it elsewhere. Anyone want a mobile home?

We had to move in a hurry, so I started checking real estate in other states. I found this four-bedroom home in southern Missouri. I was rather worried about buying it as there were houses on either side and one across the street. I was worried about neighbors. Fortunately two of the places have no permanent residents -- the owners come for a few weekends a month -- and the other people are Very nice. I have found almost all of the people here are extraordinarily kind and helpful. I can't believe what a difference 700 miles can make!

Admittedly there aren't many jobs here and the wages are low. But the prices seem cheaper than Minnesota. If anyone from the Houston, Missouri Houston is a city in Texas County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,992 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Texas CountyGR6. Geography

Does anyone know anything about these lagoon septic systems? Ours doesn't have a tank. It's just basically all your business going to a hole out back. Is this really safe? Won't this contaminate con·tam·i·nate
