I support the plight for non-cruel treatment of animals. My concern, however, is the effect of equating the history of chattel chattel (chăt`əl), in law, any property other than a freehold estate in land (see tenure). A chattel is treated as personal property rather than real property regardless of whether it is movable or immovable (see property). slavery and genocide genocide, in international law, the intentional and systematic destruction, wholly or in part, by a government of a national, racial, religious, or ethnic group. of Native people, which depended on white people actually believing Black and Native people were animals, to the current treatment of animals. While slavery no longer exists, systemic racism still does. People are still treated as less than human.
