At about 10:30 a.m., a man carrying a black bag entered a coin and comics shop in Roselle, Illinois Roselle is a village located in both Cook County and DuPage County, Illinois. The man spoke cordially to shop owner Glen Soustek for several minutes. The robber, Geoffrey Webb, threatened Soustek, and so Soustek grabbed his own pistol, kicking off a gunfight. Both men were hit by bullets, but Soustek was the one still on his feet when the shooting stopped.

Soustek exited the store to get help at a restaurant next door. "Despite his bleeding wound, he calmly asked a restaurant worker to call police." When police arrived on the scene, they found Webb dead in the store, gun still in his hand, and videotaped proof that Soustek was completely justified in shooting Webb.

Webb was a felon An individual who commits a crime of a serious nature, such as Burglary or murder. A person who commits a felony.
