.. wonder what the WI will say about this.

THIS is the moment Todd Grimshaw kisses his girlfriend's brother and sends Coronation Street crashing into the 21st century.

Corrie's first gay kiss will have former Rovers stalwarts Ena Sharples and Minnie Caldwell spinning in their graves.

It wasn't like this in their day, when men were real men and women were real women.

But while even the most traditionalist Street fans have got used to the odd serial killer, the sight of Todd snogging Nick Tilsley is likely to have many spluttering into their tea.

The biggest surprise about the scenes we'll see on October 5 is that it has taken Corrie 43 years to come up with them.

Tipsy Todd moves in after Nick dozes off on a sofa and kisses him.

EastEnders had soap's first gay male kiss 14 years ago, in 1987.

Brookside famously featured Anna Friel indulging in a lesbian lip-lock in 1993.

Three years later, Emmerdale gave us a lesbian wedding.

Scotland's newest soap River City has had several gay smooches.

If the Corrie kiss gets millions watching just to be outraged, producers might consider that a job well done.
