UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE: TM) (LSE: TYT) (TYO: 7203), is exploring the possibility of hybrid car assembly and component manufacturing in Malaysia.
The result will depend on the revision of the National Automotive Policy and trend and sales of hybrid cars. The company's president, Ismet Suki, stated that the possibility of venturing into hybrid car assembling and component manufacturing is there but there are no concrete plans at the moment.
Suki also stated that the firm needs to observe the sales of hybrid vehicles before it makes any investment in the plan.
