-Spanish La Caixa signs 10-year agreement with IBM.

30 December 2011 - Spanish savings bank La Caixa said in a press release yesterday that it had signed a 10-year strategic agreement with US technology giant IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) .

Under the agreement, IBM along with La Caixa's IT services unit Silk will manage the infrastructure technology budget of La Caixa, standing at some EUR EUR

More precisely, IBM, through Silk, will provide technology, operations, applications and infrastructure services to La Caixa and will manage its data processing centres, located in Cerdanyola del Valles and San Cugat, the province of Barcelona.

The new strategic alliance will save EUR400m for La Caixa over the term of the agreement.
