Pohjola or Pohja is a location in Finnish mythology and is usually translated as Northland in English. Bank (HEL: POH interj. 1. An exclamation expressing contempt or disgust; bah ! 1S) is to open a branch in Latvia.
The bank said that it was planning to open the branch to service corporate customers in Riga. The services would then be expanded to other Baltic countries. The bank will provide its customers with payment and liquidity management services and working capital finance and investment financing.
Pohjola Bank has been operating finance businesses in the Baltic nations since 2008.
