 AARON SPELLING NAMED 1993 SCOPUS AWARD WINNER
 LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Aaron Spelling, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Spelling Television Inc., will receive the 1993 Scopus Award as voted annually by American Friends of Hebrew University. He will receive the prestigious award on Jan. 31, 1993, in a ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The announcement was made today by Harvey L. Silbert, chairman of the board of American Friends of Hebrew University.
 The 1993 Scopus Award will be chaired by Edie and Lew Wasserman. Merv Griffin, who was awarded the Scopus honor in 1990, will serve as master of ceremonies and the entertainment will spotlight Liza Minnelli.
 The award, the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the American Friends of Hebrew University, is given to men and women of outstanding professional and humanitarian achievement.
 Spelling, named by the Guinness Book of Records "the most prolific television producer in the history of television," has built an empire out of many top television series including "Mod Squad," "Dynasty," "The Love Boat," "Hotel," "Hart to Hart," "Family" and many others.
 Spelling's 2,642 hours of television programming includes the Emmy Award-winning television film "Day One," about the conception and building of the first atomic bomb and the decision to drop it on Hiroshima. He presently has five different series on the air.
 Former winners of the Scopus Award besides Griffin -- include Barbra Streisand, Steven Spielberg, Peter Ueberroth, Johnny Carson and others.
 According to Silbert, Spelling is being singled out "for his humanitarian and altruistic activities and for the inspiration he offers to all as a result of his 'rags-to-riches' phenomenal success story."
