 'MARKETPLACE' TO FOCUS ON BUSINESS IN FORMERLY CLOSED
 RUSSIAN OUTPOST VLADISVOSTOK WITH SPECIAL EXCLUSIVE PROGRAMS
 LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- "Marketplace," American Public Radio's unique daily business program, will visit the formerly closed areas of Vladisvostok in Russia for three exclusive programs, Sept. 14-16, it was announced today by executive producer Jim Russell.
 George Lewinski, "Marketplace's" international editor based in San Francisco, will produce three special segments on economic changes and business in the modern Russian outpost on the Pacific Ocean.
 Lewinski is one of the only U.S. radio journalists to be allowed to enter this bastion of the Russian Pacific Fleet, which has always been off limits to Western journalists.
 Lewinski will also prepare several reports from Tokyo during the September state visit of Russian President Boris Yeltsin to the Japanese capital.
 The exclusive corporate underwriter for "Marketplace" is General Electric, with major funding also from The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Public Radio Stations Nationwide and the American Public Radio Program Fund, whose contributors include the United States Japan Foundation of New York and The Japan Foundation's Center for Global Partnership.
