BEAU BRIDGES TO HOST HOUR SPECIAL ON 21ST ANNUAL KEY ART AWARDS,
 PREMIERING JULY 4 AT 8 P.M. (ET/PT) ON E! ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION
American Honda Motor Co. Named Corporate Sponsor of the Awards,
 Hosted by The Hollywood Reporter
LOS ANGELES, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Beau Bridges will host "The Art of Movies," a one-hour special focusing on the 21st annual Key Art Awards and the making of movie key art, premiering on Saturday, July 4, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on E! Entertainment Television. American Honda Motor Co. Inc. will serve as corporate sponsor for the awards, which are hosted by The Hollywood Reporter.
Key art is used in movie marketing to graphically capture the spirit of a film, either in a single still image, or in moving images such as a trailer. "The Art of Movies" will feature highlights of the Key Art Awards presentation, which makes awards in 16 different categories, including posters, print ads, trailers, video packaging and television commercials.
E!'s hour special will also show the actual creation of key art by various designers and art directors, and the strategy that determines how films will be presented. From the creation and construction of the "Batman Returns" billboard, to a behind-the-scenes look at "Sister Act" and how its trailer was created, "The Art of Movies" demonstrates why these elements are so important in a film's marketing campaign.
Interviews featured in the special include "Sister Act" star Whoopi Goldberg; Callie Khouri, who won a Best Original Screenplay Academy Award for "Thelma & Louise," for which a special edition poster is being made; and Tony Curtis, host of this year's Key Art Awards ceremony. E! also spends a day in the studio of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Robert Peak, who created posters for such successes as "West Side Story," "My Fair Lady," "Camelot" and five of the "Star Trek" films.
Established in 1971, the Key Art Awards is the only internationally recognized competition of its kind to honor outstanding achievement in print and electronic movie advertising art. Over 400 entries are expected from the United States and countries around the world.
