*** Dr. Jeffrey M. Bellis passed away in October, 2002 after a long battle with cancer.


Dr. Bellis earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island History
The University was first chartered as the state's agricultural school in 1888. The site of the school was originally the Oliver Watson Farm, and the original farmhouse still lies on the campus today.

Dr. Bellis' research interests included the development and evaluation of automated, interactive, individually targeted multimedia interventions promoting change of health-related behaviors. His work has been published in such journals as Substance Use and Misuse, Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment, American Journal of Health Behavior, Health Education and Behavior, and Addictive Behaviors Addictive behavior is any activity, substance, object, or behavior that has become the major focus of a person's life to the exclusion of other activities, or that has begun to harm the individual or others physically, mentally, or socially. . Jeff Bellis quickly developed a reputation as an experienced and enthusiastic teacher and was the recipient of the 2002 Teaching Award for the School of Public Health. Jeff was an individual of remarkable character who always made time to help students as a mentor, advisor, and friend. Jeff Bellis is survived by his wife, Susan, and two children, Nathan and Joann.
