Developed in the 1980s, GSM was first deployed in seven European countries in 1992. ) Communications cellular telephone networks in China's Hunan Province. The combined value of the projects is $105 million.

Under the contracts with Hunan Posts and Telecommunications Communicating information, including data, text, pictures, voice and video over long distance. See communications.  Administration (PTA PTA or parent-teacher association: see parent education. ), Motorola CIG will deploy additional M-Cell(tm) base stations, controllers and switching equipment for a Hunan province-wide GSM 900 network expansion. The expansion, representing the operator's fourth-phase GSM 900 network expansion, will double the network capacity to 900,000 subscribers when completed by the end of October.

Concurrently, Motorola CIG will deploy M-Cell(tm) base stations to expand Hunan's GSM 900/1800 dual band network. Commercial service for the network, installed earlier this year by Motorola CIG for a dual band trial, is planned for this summer. The expansion will cover four cities in Hunan and provide network capacity for 27,000 subscribers.

Motorola CIG has been the sole GSM system supplier for Hunan PTA's network since it was launched in 1995.

Motorola's dual band network technologies enable subscriber calls to be automatically routed between a GSM 900 and GSM 1800 system. This enables operators to maximize network capacity, provide enhanced levels of service to subscribers and increase revenue opportunities by helping to ensure full use of a network. For subscribers this can mean maximum call quality, service availability and enhanced opportunities for roaming The ability to use a communications device such as a cellphone or PDA and be able to move from one cell or access point to another without losing the connection.  on networks around the world.
