(GEN) TURKISH FRIGATE TCG GEDIZ (F-495) TO ESCORT HORIZON-1- OUT OF EYL.ANKARA, Oct 5, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkish General Staff The armed forces of the Republic of Turkey, having great geopolitical and geostrategic importance, comprise the Army, Navy and Air force that are subordinate to the General Staff. said Monday that a Turkish frigate would escort HORIZON-1 --an hijacked Turkish ship which was released earlier Monday by pirates-- out of the danger zone. The General Staff announced on its website that Turkish Frigate TCG (Trusted Computing Group, Beaverton, OR, www.trustedcomputinggroup.org) The successor to the Trusted Computer Platform Alliance (TCPA), announced in 2003 by founding members AMD, HP, IBM, Intel and Microsoft. Gediz (F-495) dispatched to the area, had secured the ship, refuelled it and provided it with food stuff and medical aid. It said TGC Gediz would escort Horizon-1 to its destination. Somali pirates attacked the Turkish-flagged Horizon-1 with 23 Turkish crew members on board on July 8. The ship was en route to Jordan from Saudi Arabia. Pirates asked for ransom to release the ship and the hostages.
