(GEN) FORMER U.S. PRESIDENT SAYS TURKEY MAY PLAY MAJOR PART IN INTEGRATION AND A POSITIVE FUTURE.


ISTANBUL Istanbul (ĭs'tănbl`, ĭstan`bl), city (1990 pop. 6,748,435), capital of Istanbul prov. , Nov 3, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has said Turkey could make major contributions to the global integration and "a positive future."

Turkey will put its mark on the global integration and a positive future as long as everything goes well in the Middle East, Clinton told a conference in Istanbul on "Leadership for Sustainable Success."

Clinton said he had known from his early days in office that Turkey would become one of the most important countries of the 21st century, adding that his current visit to Turkey proved his anticipation.

He truly believes that Turkey is more important for the world than ever. They knew that Turkey was important for the future of Europe and the future of the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , Clinton said.
