(GEN) 1,095 SWINE FLU CASES REPORTED IN TURKEY SO FAR, HEALTH MINISTRY.


ANKARA, Oct 26, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkish Health Ministry stated on Monday that a total of 1,095 swine flu swine flu

A highly contagious form of human influenza caused by a filterable virus identical or related to a virus formerly isolated from infected swine.
 cases have been reported in Turkey so far.

The ministry said that the first case was seen on May 15, 2009.

Currently, five people were under treatment at hospitals, and one of them was in serious condition and in intensive care unit, added the ministry.

Earlier today, National Education Ministry stated that all the education institutions --including pre-schools, elementary and secondary schools, private schools, courses and study centers-- across Turkey would be recessed on October 30 to keep students protected against swine flu.
