(ECO) TURKISH FINANCE MINISTER'S BUSY DAY IN ISTANBUL.


ISTANBUL, Oct 5, 2009 (TUR tur: see ibex. ) -- Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek is having a busy day with meetings with officials from several countries and financial corporations who are in Istanbul for IMF-World Bank annual meetings.

Simsek met with Sri Lanka's Public Administration Minister and Deputy Minister of Finance & Planning Sanath Amunugama on Sunday.

Later, Simsek received President of Barclays Capital Barclays Capital is the investment banking division of Barclays plc. It is a primary dealer in U.S. Treasury securities and various European Government bonds.

Barclays Capital is led by CEO Robert (Bob) Diamond, an American who had been vice-chairman of Credit Suisse First
 Jerry del Missier. He also had a meeting with executives of Calyon Investment Bank.

Following these meetings, Simsek met with Kosovo's Economy and Finance Minister Ahmed Shala.

Later in the day, Simsek is expected to have separate meetings with Israel's Central Bank Governor Stanley Fischer Stanley "Stan" Fischer (Hebrew: סטנלי פישר, Arabic: ستانلي فيشر) is an economist and the current Governor of the Bank of Israel. , Chinese Finance Minister Xie Xuren and United Arab Emirates' state minister for financial affairs.

Simsek will later attend a reception to be hosted by German Consul General in Istanbul Brita Wagener and KFW KFW Kreditanstalt Für Wiederaufbau (German Development Bank)  Bank Chairman Ulrich Schroder.

He is also scheduled to attend another reception to be hosted by Qatar's Economy & Finance Minister, Qatar's Central Bank and Qatari Embassy in Turkey.

Simsek will also take part at a dinner to be hosted by Deutsche Bank and another dinner by Credit Suisse. He will have a meeting with Credit Suisse Chairman Hans-Ulrich Doerig.
